Welcome to the second edition of the PriceOps newsletter. I write about Pricing stories, strategies, operations and actionable pricing insights.

About me

I have more than decade of experience in pricing. Managed more than $4B in revenue and achieved more than $700M in price increases and established a dedicated pricing team that was responsible for pricing for all North America.

I am now building PriceOps a Pricing and Packaing Solution for SaaS companies.

I started this newsletter to share my pricing knowledge and my aim is to make pricing more accessible.

Importance of Pricing Operations

Pricing Operations is very under appreciated and always an afterthought to Pricing Strategy.

A good strategy needs stable processes and strong operations to be able to execute.

What entails Pricing Operations

  1. Ensuring that the prices are systematized

  2. Price communication

  3. Price reporting

  4. Price Governance

We lose price if any of these are not done correctly. As a result, we are not capturing all the price we can, leaving money on the table.

In addition, we create a bad customer/consumer experience by not having the right information in a timely manner.

I will be expanding more on this in later newsletters doing more in depth breakdown on each one.

Container costs soar beyond $10k

Red Sea crisis has impacted container routes which have lead to an increase in container costs.

There is a very immediate humanitarian crisis as Houthi rebels continue to attack ships through the Red Sea.

This also affects the cost of brining in raw materials and finished goods from Asia and this means it affects profitability.

This has an immediate impact on Pricing as Pricing managers for brands and manufacturing companies should now react to this cost impact and plan for how to recoup some of these costs as this crisis continues.
